Bill Rasmussen

“Building the World Wide Leader: Leadership Lessons from the Founder of ESPN”

Monday, March 24

7:30 p.m.

Emens Auditorium

Free and open to the public

Bill Rasmussen founded ESPN in the summer of 1978, funding his vision with a $9,000 credit card advance, at a time when no one had heard of 24-hour television. He turned his vision and gamble into the greatest success story in the history of sports television.

A lifelong entrepreneur and sports fan, Rasmussen’s innovations in advertising, sports, and broadcasting are numerous and include not only the creation of ESPN, but also the concept for Sports Center. At the podium, the gifted storyteller will discuss leadership, American entrepreneurship, innovation, and the birth of ESPN.
