The purpose of this document is to provide information regarding the recent closure of the university due to weather conditions as it relates to the compensation of Professional Personnel and Exempt Staff Personnel and the reporting of time in Kronos. The university was officially closed from 5:00 AM on Monday, March 25, 2013, until 10:00 AM on Monday, March 25, 2013.
Employees Who Worked During the Closure:
Since Exempt Staff Personnel and Professional Personnel are exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, Exempt Staff Personnel and Professional Personnel who worked on Monday, March 25, 2013, during the closure will treat this time as a regular workday and record no hours in Kronos.
Vacation Scheduled Prior to Weather Event:
Professional Personnel and Exempt Staff Personnel who scheduled vacation or other leave before Monday, March 25, 2013, for the workday during the closure, should report vacation or other leave for that time.
Vacation Scheduled Because of Weather Event:
Professional Personnel and Exempt Staff Personnel who were granted vacation or other leave on Monday, March 25, 2013, because of weather conditions may report a half-day (4 hours) vacation or other leave for their absence. The closure portion of the work day will be treated as a regular workday and no hours would be recorded in Kronos.
