I hope this message finds you all well. My name is Elliot Spengler and I am a second-year Masters student in the Department of Counseling Psychology and Guidance Services at Ball State University.
I am conducting a study on beliefs about psychological services of individuals who identify primarily as gay or lesbian and their perceived barriers to help seeking and I am asking you to participate if you:
1. Identify as gay or lesbian,
2. Are at least 18 years old,
3. Live in the United States.
The results of this investigation will help therapists and social scientists better accommodate the mental-health needs of gay and lesbian individuals. As an incentive for participation in the study, I will make a small contribution to GLSEN, an organization that strives to prevent anti-LGBT bullying and harassment in schools, for each completed survey. This study has received approval from Ball State University's Institutional Review Board (IRB).
The questionnaire consists of three previously validated questionnaires and should take roughly 10-15 minutes. Here is the link: https://bsu.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_5hdZWo4AnHJuWNf. After completion of the survey, or if you do not meet the criteria for inclusion, please forward this request to individuals who identify primarily as gay or lesbian or to organizations that might help promote the study.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
