New Faculty Workshops - August 2014

The Office of Educational Excellence is sponsoring several workshops for Alphas (tenure-track and contractual) prior to the start of the 2014 fall semester classes. While no formal pre-registration is required, we are requesting participants RSVP by phone (5-1763) or email.

Preparing to Teach at Ball State
9-11:30am

This session will allow new faculty to get to know colleagues outside their departments, as well as help instructors get off to a great start from the first day of classes. We will explore a variety of issues such as
• Brief review of the basics—syllabus construction, grading, office hours, attendance policies, etc.
• What to do on the first day of class—alternatives to reading through the syllabus.
• Thinking beyond lectures and tests.
• Reflections from a “Beta” (last year’s “Alpha”)
