April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

The Counseling Center’s Sexual Threats Oppression Prevention (STOP) Team is sponsoring a number of programs throughout the month to raise awareness of this important topic for our campus community. Free t-shirts and buttons will be given away at the events. Bring the buttons you receive at these events to our wrap-up party at The Cup on Friday, April 25 at 7pm and be entered to win 1 of 2 gift certificates (1 entry per button).

Clothesline Project
This project will display t-shirts near the Scramble Light with messages that affirm and support victims and survivors of sexual assault. To create a t-shirt with your own message, visit one of our scheduled programs or tabling events:
March 31 and April 1 – in the Atrium from 11am – 1pm
April 2-3 – in the Rec Center lobby from 5pm-8pm
April 21, 22, & 24 – 11am – 2pm at the Scramble Light

Stand Up!
This bystander intervention training teaches you how to respond effectively when you see someone who needs help. Those who attend the training will receive a certificate of completion.

Putting the ‘Sensual’ Back in ‘Consensual’
A panel of experts in the field of sexual assault prevention will answer anonymous questions from the audience. No question is too tough for our experts!

STOP Team Talk Show
This program presents a dramatization of a real-life same-sex sexual assault situation and includes audience participation. This program was organized in part by Ball State’s Spectrum organization.

Wrap-up Party
Come to The Cup (in the Village) to hear music, poetry, and published stories from survivors. Bring your buttons from the previous events and be entered to win 1 of 2 gift certificates to the Cup worth $25 (1 entry per button).
