About RSS and news feeds
Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is an easy and free way to get news you want whenever it happens to be updated, even if you are not on the Communications Center Web site.

Do you want updates about news and upcoming events from your department or college? What about being in the know about the latest Emens or Late Nite event on campus? With RSS feeds, you choose what categories you want to follow and how often you want to be updated.

To use RSS, you'll need a news reader (also known as a feed reader or an aggregator). There are many types of news readers available — most are free and only take a few minutes to set up. Some are stand-alone software programs while others are plug-ins or extensions for web or e-mail applications. To find the right news reader for you, try typing "RSS news feeder" or "aggregator" into Google (or any search engine) or Wikipedia.

The Communications Center's RSS feeds should work with any reader using the standard XML-based format. Suggested news readers for Communications Center feeds:

How to subscribe to a Communications Center RSS feed

Once you have your news reader set up, you can subscribe to any feed by clicking on the orange RSS graphic found beside each category off the "Manage my subscriptions" page. Follow the directions in your news reader for adding a new feed. This involves copying the URL of the RSS page into your news reader.
