Dear Students:
If you are in or around the Muncie area this summer and play a band instrument, I want to invite you to participate in the BSU Summer Concert Band. This is a fun and rewarding experience that has continued to grow for the past few summers.
For those of you not familiar with the Summer Concert Band, here are some of the details:
1) The ensemble rehearses four times and presents one concert.
2) Rehearsals are held on Tuesday nights from 7:00-9:30pm in MI 152. Our first rehearsal will take place on Tuesday, May 17. Subsequent rehearsals will be held on May 24, May 31 and June 7.
3) Our concert will take place on Wednesday, June 8 at 5:30pm in Sursa Hall. We will share the concert with the Summer Jazz Band.
4) The atmosphere is light and we have a great time making music and enjoying the process. We typically play a wide variety of music (standard repertoire, movie music, popular charts, musicals, marches, etc.)
Here are a couple of answers to frequently asked questions:

If you have to miss a rehearsal (or part of a rehearsal) due to vacation plans or something else, that's fine. So long as you are able to participate in a majority of the rehearsal time, you are more than welcome to join.
BSU students may enroll for credit (MUSC 340C) if desired, but this is not a requirement to participate.
You can participate in both the Summer Concert Band and Jazz Band if you wish.
If you would like to participate, please contact bands@bsu.edu or call 765-285-9178 as soon as possible, so we can make a folder for you. Please indicate your instrument and provide your contact information.
I hope to see many of you this summer!
