School of Music to Present Masterworks Concert, Including "Carmina Burana"

Students, faculty, and staff of Ball State University are invited to attend the School of Music Masterworks Concert.

The first half will feature the Ball State Wind Ensemble while the second half will include the Ball State Symphony Orchestra, combined Ball State Choirs, and the Indianapolis Children’s Choir performing Carl Orff’s masterpiece Carmina Burana.

Concert-goers will have two opportunities to see this special performance, including the School of Music’s debut at the Palladium in Carmel, Ind.

Crumbs from the Table of Joy

The year is 1950, and while Americans are dealing with post-World War II life, the start of the Cold War, and the looming civil right movement, the Crump family - father Godfrey and his two daughters Ernestine, 17 and Ermina, 15 - are reeling from the loss of Godfrey's wife and the the girls' mother. As Godfrey tries to find solace by moving the family from Florida to Brooklyn, both girls try to adjust to their new lives, while their aunt tries to undo the conservative teachings of Godfrey with her free-thought philosophy. But tension reaches its peak when Godfrey falls in love with a German woman and brings her home to meet the family.

Crumbs From the Table of Joy is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.

Spring Shout Songwriting Competition

The Ball State University School of Music is pleased to announce the Spring Shout Songwriting Competition, open to all Ball State students ages 18-27. Song material must be your original work and you must be a musician.

Take advantage of a unique opportunity to perform with your band at Be Here Now. Don’t have your own backing band for your live performance? No problem! Use our Music Media Production (MMP) Club Band (drums, bass, guitar, and keyboard). The event will be adjudicated by Ball State Music Media Production faculty and a surprise judge. There will be a jury prize and an audience vote, so bring your friends!
