The upcoming REO Speedwagon shows in Rosemont, IL (1/18); Normal, IL (2/6); Muncie, IN (2/7); and Effingham, IL (2/8) will all have charity involvement to benefit Rock To The Rescue. Rock To The Rescue recently raised more than $400,000 to benefit victims of the Midwest tornadoes and storms. At these shows, a portion of proceeds will benefit the charity; plus, the band will hold memorabilia and instrument raffles or auctions, and donations will be accepted. The charity will distribute funds raised from this performance to Midwest Food Bank, Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity, Tazwood Community Services, Toys for Tots and the Washington Community Bank in care of City of Washington Tornado Relief Fund.

REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin said, "When we visited the site of the devastating Illinois tornadoes on the day of our benefit concert in December we asked Mayor Gary Manier of Washington, IL what else we could do to help. He didn't hesitate, ‘Please don't forget about us,’ was his impassioned response. The rebuilding process is estimated to last up to three years, so our work in supporting our Illinois brothers and sisters is just beginning. We are committed to continue contributing time, energy and money long into the future, and as such our upcoming shows in Chicago, Normal, Effingham, and Muncie, will add to our Rock to the Rescue benefit effort. We are an Illinois band, the people of Illinois are our people…when they need us we are there."

Gary Manier, Mayor of Washington, IL said, “On November 17th, 2013 Washington, Illinois was devastated by an EF4 tornado.  We had almost 1,200 homes damaged or destroyed.  REO Speedwagon came to tour our city before performing at Rock To The Rescue and promised that they would do more. Now, within two months, they are coming back and will be raising more funds for our recovery efforts. I had the privilege of attending the Dec. 5th, 2013 concert and was amazed just how great they sounded. I encourage everyone to buy tickets and not miss this opportunity to see for yourselves. I'd like to personally thank REO's entire team for their efforts and continued support for all who lost so much.”

Rock ToThe Rescue originally started in 2001 as a result of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and is the brainchild of REO SPEEDWAGON’s Kevin Cronin and STYX’s Tommy Shaw.  The two musicians brought together bands and artists such as Bad Company, Journey, Survivor, Kansas, Lynyrd Skynyrd and many others to be part of “Volunteers For America” concert events in Dallas and Atlanta that ultimately raised over $775,000 for victims of 9/11, as well as the Port Authority police department in New York City.   On the bands’ last tour together, the Midwest Rock N' Roll Express,  Rock To The Rescue not only raised thousands of dollars for local charities at each tour stop, but also raised $108,000 which went directly to the Boston One Fund, helping victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.
