Research Subjects Needed!
Project Title: The Prevalence of Signs of Early Stage Cardiovascular Disease in a Healthy Adult Population.
Seeking: Male and Female participants age 40-70 years. Must be free of diagnosed cardiovascular disease (former heart attack, stroke, peripheral artery disease, heart failure, or prior heart surgery).
Purpose: To examine the associations between established cardiovascular disease risk factors and signs of abnormal blood vessel size and function.
Measurements will consist of:
· Health History Questionnaire
· Basic body size measurements (height, weight, waist and hip circumferences)
· Measurements of blood vessel thickness and stiffness
· Physical activity assessment
· Body composition analysis
· Blood lipid profile
· Short walking assessment
All volunteers will receive a copy of their blood vessel test results, blood lipid profile, and findings from the body composition and physical activity assessments.
Testing will require 2 visits to the Human Performance Laboratory, scheduled 1 week apart. Visit 1 will require approximately 45 minutes and session 2 will require approximately 40 minutes. Total time commitment will be approximately 1 hour and 25 minutes.
