Ball State University Citizens Police Academy

The Ball State University Department of Public Safety is sponsoring a Citizens Police Academy January 26, 2014 through April 27, 2014. There will be no sessions on March 9th & 16th and April 20, 2014 due to spring break and Easter Sunday. The Academy program is 10 weeks in duration and sessions will meet on Sunday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The purpose of the academy is to provide members of the Ball State Community unique insight about policing and the services provided by the Ball State University Police Department. Also, with the goal of fostering better understanding of the department and furthering the department’s partnership with the community.

The Ball State University Police Department’s training team has prepared a comprehensive program of instructions. The program will provide citizens a history of policing and the agency, an overview of the officer hiring and training process, and an orientation to various divisions, units, and functions of the department. I would like to extend a personal invitation to you or your designee to enroll in the Citizens Police Academy. Attached you will find an application.
