The Center for Gifted Studies and Talent Development is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a
week-long science enrichment program this summer sponsored by the National Inventor’s Hall of Fame. Camp Invention is a nationally-recognized program that puts real world STEM problems in the hands of elementary students and engages them in the engineering design process. Participants do not need to be Burris students to attend. The program is open to any student entering grades 1-6 in the fall.

Rising 7th-9th graders interested in a leadership role at camp can now register at a discounted rate as Counselors-in-Training (CITs). Contact Miki Hamstra for more information.

Near the Big Dipper in the northern sky there is a star that, to the eye, appears faint and unremarkable. But it is special in a couple of ways. It is so far away that light from this star must travel for many years to reach the earth. The light we see tonight left that star in 1967. This is the same year the Ball State University Planetarium opened its doors and began its operation. Learn more.

The College of Architecture and Planning will hold DesignWorks from July 13-25. This college-style studio experience is for high school juniors.

True to Ball State’s commitment to experiential learning, this two-week session offers a hands-on immersion into the exciting world of environmental design and problem solving, with fun and creative activities led by CAP faculty.

The studio's format bears similarities to the college’s First-Year Program for new freshmen—a sampling of our various disciplines, conducted in the same design studios that college students use. In addition, DesignWorks is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts.

To learn more about the program, please visit our website, or contact Melanie Smith at (765) 285-5862 or msmith@bsu.edu.
