Ball State Speech team wins 3 national titles at American Forensics Assoication

At a tournament with over 80 schools and 1500 entries, the Ball State speech team took 11th place as a team with only 4 students and 16 events at the 37th annual American Forensics Association National Individual Events tournament held last weekend at Arizona State University. The talking cardinals advanced 6 of their 16 events to elimination rounds, winning 3 national titles in Impromptu Speaking, Communication Analysis and Program Oral Interpretation. BSU was the only team in the country to capture 3 national titles and this is the first time in BSU's history we have won an event at AFA. Congratulation to Bri Kirkham for qualifying: Informative Speaking, After Dinner Speaking & Communication Analysis.

The BSU Speech team is coached by Mary Moore, Ashley Coker, Michelle Colpean, & David Martin. It is housed in the Department of Communication Studies in the College of Communication, Information & Media. The entire team will attend the NFA national tournament next week in Ypsilanti, MI.
