The Ball State University Career Center has been named the recipient of the Career Services Excellence Award from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).

On Tuesday, June 6, NACE awarded the Career Center of Ball State with the distinguished decoration at its 2017 Conference and Expo in Las Vegas. According to its website, the distinction is “awarded for excellence in career services best practices providing guidance, service, and resources to students.”

“The process of striving for national recognition empowers us to serve our students and partners better, something our team is very passionate about, as evidenced by being the one career center in the country to earn the Career Services Excellence Award at our national conference,” said Jim McAtee, Director for the Career Center. “I’m so proud of the entire team in the Career Center for earning this national award!”

In addition to the award distinction, the Career Center was well represented at the event – Director McAtee was invited to showcase information about a data-informed culture, Career Coach Charlie Ricker was asked to discuss retention best practices and success stories for KEY Careers, and Director of Digital Corps Brandon Smith joined the Career Center as finalists for a Technology Excellence Award. In addition, Career Coach Renee Haack gave multiple presentations covering the significant partnership between the Career Center and Disability Services and best practices in regards to maximizing impact for students with disabilities.

The award is just as much about the entire Ball State campus community as it is the Career Center. We could not do this in a vacuum. Thank you to the administration for giving us the opportunities to try new things and be leaders in our industry. Thank you to Dr. Bales for your leadership and confidence. Thank you to the faculty for championing our programs and services. Thank you to the employers and alumni who work with us to recruit Cardinals and share your wisdom. Thank you to the many campus groups and departments that partner with us and share our goals. Thank you students for letting us impact your lives.

We are excited for this national recognition, and we are honored to represent Ball State!
