Crumbs from the Table of Joy
by Lynn Nottage
co-directed by Dee Dee Batteast and Tracey Copeland Halter

The year is 1950, and while Americans are dealing with post-World War II
live, the start of the Cold War, and the looming civil rights movement,
the Crump family-father Godfrey and his two daughters Ernestine, 17, and
Ermina, 15-are reeling for the loss of Godfrey's wife and the girls
mother. As Godfrey tries to find solace by moving the family from
Florida to Brooklyn, both girls try to adjust to their new lives, while
their aunt tries to undo the conservative teachings of Godfrey with her
free-thought philosophy. But tension reaches its peak when Godfrey falls
in love with a German woman and brings her home to meet the family.

Crumbs From the Table of Joy is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.
