Happy April, Ball State! Spring has (almost) Sprung, and we have some wonderful shows lined up at Emens Auditorium and Pruis Hall this month. We can't wait to see YOU at these awesome events!

Matt Beilis
Apr. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
Pruis Hall

New Yorker Matt Beilis was born with a distinct voice. Some would say it’s unconventional, which would fit the personality of this singer/songwriter/pianist. The songs that Matt has crafted combine his singer-songwriter aesthetic with electronic beats and soaring pop hooks. By choosing his dream over a career on Wall Street, Matt already walked away from a sure thing. Believing 100% in his own talent is the only bet he could make. He’s all in.

Bella Gaia
Apr. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
Emens Auditorium

Bella Gaia (Beautiful Earth) is an unprecedented audio-visual experience that combines NASA satellite imagery of Earth, time-lapse nature photography, and live world music and dance on stage. Inspired by astronauts who spoke of the life-changing power of seeing the Earth from space, director-composer Kenji Williams' award-winning Bella Gaia successfully simulates the Overview Effect from space flight, by using NASA supercomputer data-visualizations with an "iridescent landscape of gossamer melodies and labyrinthine rhythms" (Nooga.com) to explore the relationship between humans and nature through time and space.

Earn $20 for research participation

Contributed by: Kristin Perrone-McGovern
Published: Tuesday, 13 November 2018 5:30 PM
Hello,

You are invited to participate in a study that examines the relationship between several personality characteristics and behavioral variables, including eating behaviors. In order to participate, you must be an adult over the age of 18 and self-identify as female. If you choose to participate, you will be asked to complete an online survey that will ask about personality and behavioral characteristics. The survey will take about 30 minutes to complete. Participants in the online survey may also be eligible for participation in a follow up study examining the neural processes associated with certain relational personality characteristics and eating behaviors. In this portion of the study, you will complete and questionnaire and participate in an image discrimination task via computer. EEG procedures will be used to examine brain activity. EEG works by recording the electrical activity of a person’s brain. The EEG process involves a cap with electrodes being placed on your head after which you will perform the computerized task while brain activity is recorded. Gel will be placed in holes in the cap and will get into your hair. The gel is non-toxic and washes out easily with a shower. You must be willing to have gel placed in your hair for the EEG section of the study. Participants will first complete a survey. Then, participants who participate in the EEG portion of the study will be eligible for $10 per hour of participation (2 hours total= $20). Directions regarding follow up participation are provided after completion of the survey.
