Learning Technologies for Innovation Conference: Expanding Horizons

Join your colleagues at the Ball State University Student Center for conference sessions focused on a variety of learning innovations and concepts. Concurrent session tracks include: Student Focused Learning, Everything Bb and Social Learning & Collaboration.

Registration check-in begins at 8:30 AM and the conference concludes at 1:00 PM following the luncheon.

Please indicate on the registration if you will be joining us for lunch and if you have any dietary restrictions.

Managing Media with My Mediasite

Location: Bracken Library (BL) Lower Level Room 008

This training session is necessary to familiarize yourself with the new changes to the Mediasite service. Access to a new personal video storage space, a web-based editor, and desktop recorder will be gained after attending this session. Learn to record, manage, upload and link to Blackboard the 3 types of presentations that can easily be created with Mediasite. Best practices and avoiding copyright infringement will also be included in this session.

                                                   Beyond the Basics: Weighted Grades
REGISTER                    Tuesday, April 15 9:30AM - 10:30AM
Location: iLearn Training Stadium Ball Communications (BC) 220
This 60 minute workshop assumes you are already familiar with the basic functionality of the Blackboard Grade Center and would like to use the Weighted Total column to assign percentages to types of assessments. For example: tests are worth 50%, homework is worth 25% and projects are worth 25% of the final grade. You will learn how to group grade columns into categories and assign weights or percentages to each. This session will be interactive and hands-on. Presenter: Mr. Ben Ranfeld

                                                    Introduction: inQsit to Blackboard Tests

A sunset date of the end of spring term 2014 has been set for inQsit, Web Gradebook, and Exam Services (Scantron). A tool has been developed to assist you in exporting test questions and converting them to Blackboard format.
This workshop is for faculty who want to reuse existing inQsit test questions and learn how to export from inQsit and import the questions into Blackboard to recreate the test. The workshop will include setting up your Blackboard test, making the test available for your students, and setting up the lockdown browser so your students can take the test in one of the testing labs on campus. Monitoring Student Progress using Blackboard Retention Center           REGISTER or Walk-in

As instructors, we all take interest in student progress, but with so many students, sometimes it is difficult to keep track. Let the Blackboard retention Center be your assistant and provide customized notifications. Feel free to bring a computer and try out the tools during the session! The Retention Center and Performance Dashboard are two tools within your course that allow you to track student performance throughout the semester. We will look at the different information that is available to you and custom rules you can create to notify you of which students are at risk as well as which students are excelling. Smart Views                          REGISTER or Walk-in

After your course's Grade Center is full of data it can be difficult to navigate and find particular columns when entering grades. Smart Views filter columns and rows in your Grade Center to only show information you have selected to see. Examples include only tests or assignments, only students from one section in a combined course, and only items that need to be graded. Presenter: Mr. Ben Ranfeld
