Transfer Switch Testing
Short Electric Outages


Automatic Transfer Switch testing will be conducted in several buildings on the schedule below beginning July 23 and completed on July 31, 2018.

When the test begins there will be a 10 second power interruption and then about 15 minutes later there will be a blink as the system switches back to the normal condition.

This will only affect emergency circuits that are powered by the generator during an unscheduled power outage. This will not be a total building outage.

Building occupants should turn computers off the evening before using the normal shutdown procedures. It will not be necessary to unplug this equipment. The power will be returned to normal by 7:00 a.m. so computers can be started up in the normal manner.

The testing scheduled for Saturday, July 28 will continue until 1:30 in the afternoon.

Road Closure Notice - McKinley Avenue

McKinley Avenue
Petty/Neely Avenue north to Bethel Avenue


McKinley Avenue between Petty/Neely Avenue and Bethel Avenue will be closed to all but local traffic for re-construction from May 7 to August 10, 2018.

During this period of time the section of McKinley Avenue immediately south of the duck pond to the east side of Lafollette Hall will be closed to all traffic.

Service and delivery vehicles, and occupants of Lafollette Hall, Johnson A, Johnson B, Carmichael Hall can gain access to these buildings from the service drive immediately south of the McKinley bridge and west of Carmichael Hall by entering McKinley at Bethel Avenue.

The H2 residence hall parking lot and the G1 yellow parking lot located along the west side of Carmichael Hall, and the G1 yellow lot west of Lafollette Hall will remain open during construction and access will be from the service drive immediately south of the McKinley Avenue bridge.

The R2 parking lot immediately south of Lafollette Hall will remain open, and can be accessed from McKinley Avenue by entering McKinley Avenue from the south from either Petty or Neely Avenues.

The H1 residence hall parking lot located along the north side of McKinley Avenue will be closed during construction.

A small section of the C1 commuter lot just north of the shuttle bus stop will also be closed during construction.

Anthony Apartments will be accessible either directly off of Bethel Avenue or from McKinley Avenue to Bowman Avenue.

The CAP workshop, old Printing Services Building, will be accessible from McKinley Avenue from the south from either Petty or Neely Avenues.
