In 1996, an original rock musical by a little-known composer opened on Broadway… and forever changed the landscape of American theatre. Two decades later, Jonathan Larson’s RENT continues to speak loudly and defiantly to audiences across generations and all over the world. And now, this Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award®-winning masterpiece returns to the stage in a vibrant 20th anniversary touring production. A re-imagining of Puccini's La Bohème, RENT follows an unforgettable year in the lives of seven artists struggling to follow their dreams without selling out. With its inspiring message of joy and hope in the face of fear, this timeless celebration of friendship and creativity reminds us to measure our lives with the only thing that truly matters—love.

Fifth House Ensemble, composer Austin Wintory, and arranger Patrick O'Malley team up to create an original, interactive arrangement of the Grammy-nominated score to Journey for the ensemble's full instrumentation, with added percussion and harp. Mirroring the breathtaking synergy between score and action in this transformative video game experience, this arrangement is constructed in short trigger points that allow the ensemble to be responsive to the actions of a live game player in real time. In live performance, players join the ensemble, with the game's stunning visuals projected live on screen, as the ensemble seamlessly underscores their journey.

From an undergraduate singing group at Indiana University to a beloved Atlantic Records act with a devoted international fanbase. Along the way, Straight No Chaser has sold more than 1.6 million albums in the U.S. and amassed more than 100 million YouTube views thanks to tightly arranged songs, impeccable vocal harmonies, and a healthy sense of humor.

Far from sinking, the group has only picked up speed on the way to making ONE SHOT. “Every year it gets better and better,” says Tyler Trepp. “We keep surprising ourselves in a good way, and it just keeps growing.”

Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m.

Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent, backed by one of the best bands on tour today, are two of the most reputable and elite entertainers in American music; bluegrass, traditional country, and gospel music. Their most recent CD, Dailey and Vincent LIVE, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Bluegrass charts and remained at the top position for over 15 weeks. Come check them out here at Emens!

Yoku Mabuchi started playing classical piano at the age of 4 in her hometown of Kukui, Japan. She represents a new generation of young international artists who have chosen the Jazz genre as a means of expression. This event is part of the Coffee & Cabernet Series at Pruis Hall. Enjoy an assortment of coffee and wine along with the harmonies of Yuko Mabuchi.
